Privacy policy
What we collect, what we do not, and what happens when you click a link to a retailer.
Last updated
The short version
We do not ask you to create an account, we do not run a newsletter, and we do not sell data to anybody. The only information we hold about you is what you send us in the contact form and anonymous, aggregated traffic statistics.
What we collect
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are read and which recommendations get clicked. It records things like the page viewed, the general region a visit came from, and the type of device. We do not use it to identify individual people and we have no way to do so.
- Contact form submissions. If you write to us, we receive the name, email address, subject and message you type. We use it to reply to you and, where you have reported an error, to correct the page. We do not add you to any mailing list.
- Standard server logs. Our hosting provider records requests, including IP addresses, for security and reliability. We use the same information in memory, briefly, to rate-limit the contact form against automated spam.
What we do not collect
- No accounts, passwords or profiles.
- No payment information. Nothing is sold on this site.
- No advertising networks and no retargeting pixels.
- No newsletter, so no marketing list to be on.
Affiliate links
Commercial links on this site pass through an address of our own beginning /go/, which forwards you to the retailer. That step lets us count clicks in aggregate. It does not identify you.
Once you arrive at a retailer, that retailer’s privacy policy applies, not ours, and retailers commonly set a cookie so a purchase can be attributed to the site that referred it. That cookie is how we get paid and it is set by them. We never receive your name, your address, your payment details or what you bought. The full disclosure is here.
Cookies
The site itself sets no cookies of its own for tracking. Google Analytics sets its own, and retailers set theirs when you follow a link to them. Every browser can block or clear cookies, and blocking them does not stop this site working: nothing here is behind a login.
Children
This site is written for adults buying gear for a family. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, write to us and we will delete it.
How long we keep things
Contact form messages stay in the inbox as long as they are useful for handling your question or documenting a correction, and can be deleted on request. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics 4 default settings.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. In practice, for this site, that means the contents of a message you sent us. Write to info@edgeandpowder.com and we will act on it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the last-updated date at the top of the page changes with it. There is no version of this site where we quietly start collecting more and do not say so.
